How to Recover Deleted Photos on iPhone or iPad

Most people might have lost some important or memorable photos on iPhone. It may happen due to accidental deletion, iOS update or downgrade, jailbreak failure, iPhone restoring, iOS system malfunction, iPhone damage, screen broken or forgetting screen password. What can we do to get those photos back? Relax! There are some methods to recover deleted photos on iPhone.

Method 1. Find Recently Deleted Photos in iPhone
This is the quickest and easiest way. For an iPhone running on iOS8 or above, there is a “Recently deleted” folder in the Photos app. All deleted photos will be stored in this folder for 30 days. Most of you might have known this method so here we use few steps to introduce this methods.

1.Go to the Photos app and open the “Recently Deleted” album.
2.Preview the photos included, tap “Select” to pick out the photos you want to recover.
3.Tap “Recover” then your photos will be back in your photos album!

If the photos you want are not in “Recently Deleted” folder, or the Photos are lost because of iOS update, this method is totally no use! But if you have the good habit to backup your iPhone, there are other methods to try.

Method 2. Recover Deleted Photos from iCloud
Backing up your iPhone on iCloud is a great way to protect your iPhone data. Restoring photos from iCloud is not a thing with much trouble. But it will erase existing content in your iPhone. In this case, you’d better copy the important information in your iPhone before restore from the iCloud backup. Follow below steps to get your photos back from iCloud.

1.Erase all contents on your iPhone ( Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings).
2.Turn on your device, follow the setup steps until you reach the Apps & Data screen, tap “Restore From iCloud Backup”.
3.Sign in to iCloud with your Apple ID.
4.Tap the backup, and wait until the restore process finish.

Be sure you have a backup on iCloud. After restoring from iCloud, all the data would be replaced by what are stored in the backup.

Method 3. Recover Deleted Photos from iTunes
This is a similar method with method 2. As mentioned above, restoring photos from iCloud would lead to lost of existing content. So does iTunes. Remember to copy photos, messages and any other important data to your computer before restoring the backup from iTunes. Now we start to learn how to recover deleted photos from iTunes.

1.Connect your iPhone to computer and open iTunes.
2.Click on your device icon on iTunes, and press “Restore Backup”.
3.Choose the backup you want to restore, click “Restore” and wait until the process finish.

Method 4. Restore Deleted Photos Without Backup
It’s not hard to get back the deleted photos if you have backed up your iPhone. But what if there is no backup? Is it possible to recover deleted or lost photos from iPhone without backup?
